App and developer
This Privacy Policy covers ScientCalc, the calculator developed by Expensive Petroleum, including its mobile and web versions, and this developer website. Android application ID: com.ep.paulscalc. Calculations and local storage
Calculations are performed on your device. Expressions, financial inputs and results are not sent to our servers. The app saves calculation history (up to 50 recent results), drafts, memory values, settings, the last screen, favourite currencies, cached exchange rates (up to 50 pairs) and manually entered bank rates locally so you can continue between sessions. Mobile storage uses AsyncStorage; the web calculator uses browser localStorage. We do not operate a server-side database of your calculations or user accounts.
Exchange-rate requests
The currency converter requests currency lists and rates from Frankfurter over HTTPS. Requests include the selected currency codes, but not the entered amount, manual bank rates or other calculations. The service and its network providers necessarily receive technical connection information, such as your IP address. Frankfurter describes its data practices in its FAQ and its rate terms on the license page. These third-party services process requests under their own policies.
Website and support messages
This developer website is hosted on Vercel. To deliver and protect the website, the hosting provider may process your IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information and technical logs. This is separate from calculation data in the app. We do not add analytics, advertising trackers or marketing cookies to this website. If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send; we use them to respond and investigate your request. Our email provider processes this correspondence to deliver and store messages.
Retention and deletion
Local calculator data remains until you clear app or browser storage, remove it through available app controls, or it is replaced by newer history or cache entries. Device or operating-system backups may retain copies according to your backup settings; restored backups may restore local data. We retain support correspondence only as long as necessary to address your request and related follow-up, or to meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of support correspondence by email. Hosting logs are retained according to the provider’s service settings and policies. See data deletion instructions.
Security and your choices
Network requests for rates use HTTPS. Calculation data stays in device or browser storage; protect access to your device and backups. No storage or transmission method guarantees absolute security. You can use offline calculator functions without requesting new exchange rates. Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction or deletion of personal information you provided to support, or raise an objection, by contacting us. We cannot access or remotely erase your local calculation history.
Children’s privacy
ScientCalc is a general-purpose calculator. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If a child has sent personal information to support, a parent or guardian may contact us to request its deletion.
